Artist Profile
What started as a hobby over ten years ago for Charles Ciupa has become a passion, and a full time occupation for this very talented and creative artist. His work consists of unique handcrafted stained glass items, all of his own original design.
Charles’ work is distributed to over fifty shops across Canada, and the United States. He has exhibited his work at popular craft shows across Ontario including: Signatures in Toronto, London, and Ottawa, and Originals in Ottawa. He has also exhibited at the One of A Kind Christmas show in Toronto. He has also been in shows in Huntsville, Burlington, Oakville, Parry Sound, Kingston, Hamilton & Orillia.
Charles is best known for his unique bird sun catchers. These are stained glass birds perched on a tree branch made from copper wire. His extensive knowledge of birds and wildlife has lead to praise for both realism and uniqueness. You will often find Charles talking to customers at Craft shows about the local birds and their habits.
Charles has a loyal following of clients that attend various craft shows to see “what’s new”. As collectors of his work, they are looking for that new piece. Whether it is that particular bird, butterfly, dragonfly or bug, Charles seems to have the gift of understanding what they want.
Charles also designs and builds unique stained glass panels, featuring cats, butterflies and birds. If you are looking for that something special for your home, Charles can create that custom order.
